MAC // Rebel Lipstick Review

MAC | Rebel | £15.00 | Buy Here
Rebel is my absolute favourite lipstick ever, I literally can't go a few days without wearing it. I first saw this colour on Sammi from Beauty Crush and it was love at first sight ;) Normally I wouldn't be able to bring myself to spend £14 on a lipstick, but once I'd tried it on I knew I wouldn't be able to leave the store without it.. and so my MAC lipstick collection had begun!

It's a gorgeous deep pinky plum colour which goes on quite dark but fades to give a beautiful bright berry pink. It's so pigmented that it lasts on your lips for ages and it only take one swipe for me to get opaque colour, even though my lips are quite pigmented. I usually line my lips with a Natural Collection lip liner in Mulberry because it helps me to define the edges of my lips, which is pretty hard to do with the bullet unless you have a super steady hand! Since it's Satin finish it applies really smoothly and has a slight shimmer to it. It also smells like vanilla - this lipstick really can do no wrong!?

I tried to capture the colour as accurately as I could but honestly the swatches don't do Rebel much justice :(

SLEEK MAKEUP WISHLIST // Face, Lips and Eyes

I think it's about time for another wish list! This time the spotlight's on Sleek Makeup which is one of my favourite brands, since their makeup is both affordable and great quality. I only own a couple of palettes from them and their Face Form Kit [review here] at the moment but I've had my eye on a few pieces for a while now.. if only my local Superdrug would actually start ordering more stock in! :(

Anyways, here are my top picks from their online store :) What I love most about their website is the fact that for most products they do swatches on fair, medium and dark skin which is unbelievably useful - it makes shopping online so much easier!

NATURAL COLLECTION // Moisture Shine Lipstick In Rose Bud

I love affordable make up.. being a poor student and all - one of my favourite brands for cheaper make up is the Natural Collection line from Boots. Everything in their collection is under £2 - amazing or what?! Plus it's not all terrible quality either which makes it even better!

Natural Collection | Moisture Shine Lipstick | Rose Bud | £1.99

I don't even remember buying this lipstick so was surprised to find it in the bottom of my make up case. It's a moisture shine lipstick in the shade Rose Bud, which is a dusky rose pink colour - perfect for everyday wear. It applies so smoothly and has a really creamy formula that I do find nourishes and moisturises my lips. Its finish is more matte than it is glossy, it's kind of in between the two so it's quite hard to describe! I would say it lasts a good three to four hours - even longer when I use a bit of concealer on my lips as a base, plus it makes the colour more intense :)

Woahh.. so I just checked the Boots website and all Natural Collection products are 3 for £5! Sadly though, for some strange reason I can't find a link to their lipsticks online :(

ELF // Studio Matte Lip Color

ELF is one of my favourite make up brands - they have an amazing range of products at prices you just can't say no to.. especially when there's 50% off which is when I go mental I buy loads guilt free! A couple of products I bought in my last spending spree are the Studio Matte Lip Colours. I love a matte lip more than anything, so was really excited to try these out.

ELF | Matte Lip Colour | £3.75 | Buy Here

The two colours I chose are Coral which is a very soft nude toned coral and Rich Red which is a bright blue based red. You can't argue with how great the pigmentation of both these are, one layer is all you need for opaque colour, and Rich Red can be blotted down to give a lovely red tint to your lips. They're not as matte as I'd expected them to be, as they have a slight sheen when applied on the lips but it's still a pretty finish which lasts around 4 hours.

Top: Coral
Bottom: Rich Red
I really like that these are screw up, because it saves me having to sharpen them which lets be honest, is just a hassle and a waste! There's a sharpener at the bottom where the coloured tab is, but since the product is so soft and flimsy I'm too scared to use it in case I smush it all! The packaging is very sleek like most thing in the ELF Studio line and they're very easy to slip into your bag or purse. Just a warning though - I took the coral one out with me once and came back to find the stick of lipstick inside had snapped making it pretty impossible to use now :(

Although both colours are thick and creamy to apply, I find the Coral one looks terrible on my lips unless I add lashings of lipgloss on top, because it looks chalky and weird. Rich Red however applies like a dream! I do find these to be quite drying, so I can't wear them as much as I'd like to. They're 'enriched with Vitamin A, C and E' but my lips certainly aren't feeling it!

Rich Red
Coral
I would definitely buy Rich Red again as it's my go to red lipstick. Although I adore the colour of Coral, it just doesn't seem to work for me as well as Rich Red :(

SALLY HANSEN // Lip Inflation Plumping Treatment

On the weekend I had a little lookie in Poundland's makeup section and picked up a few things. I was shocked by what I'd found there; there were loads of well known brands including Rimmel, Covergirl, Collection, Sally Hansen and OPI [Yes I know! They were selling OPI and I went a little crazy - post coming soon!?].

I have quite small lips so if I can find any products that'll make them look bigger I'll usually give it a go, which is why I ended up leaving with this! I own a few Sally Hansen nail varnishes which are brill, so I was hoping their make up wouldn't disappoint.

Sally Hansen | Lip Inflation | Sheer Blush | Buy Here or Coloured Version Here

On the packaging it claims to give you instantly plumped lips which is not something I would agree with. After applying the product, I have to wait around five minutes or so for my lips to plump up a bit and even then its not a huge difference. You get a very gentle tingling sensation on the lips, thankfully not like other lip plumpers I've tried which stung my lips so much I had to wipe them off a couple of minutes later!

Lip Inflation contains ginger and cinnamon which are both used to irritate the sensitive skin of your lips so that they swell slightly.. lovely! It also contains peppermint which counteracts this and works to soothe and cool the lips. You can smell a slight minty scent if you really sniff it but it's not overpowering.

The consistency of the gloss is quite thick, it reminds me a lot of ELF's Liquid Lipsticks which are my favourite lip glosses ever. I personally prefer thicker lip glosses and like how this one's not too sticky. It comes with a brush applicator instead of the doe foot applicators I'm used to, which is actually really easy to use.

I chose to get this in the colour Sheer Blush because I really wanted the extra shine and like a touch of colour. It's a peachy nude colour which contains ultra fine gold glitter. There was also a clear one which I think would be great to use over lipsticks :)

I especially love how moisturising this lip gloss is, even after a full day of wear my lips don't feel at all dry! This could be due to the fact that it contains Vitamins A and E which nourish the lips and leave them feeling soft.

All in all, pretty good for a pound don't you think?

LA COLORS // Stargaze Eyeshadows, Glitter Gloss & Jumbo Eye Pencil

The last couple of weeks have just been absolutely manic, lots of catching up with friends and enjoying the sunny weather :) On Monday I finally got a chance to visit the new[ish] Westfield in Stratford with my cousins, where we discovered an amazing discount beauty store called Beauty Base. Not going to lie, I could have spent ridiculous amounts of money in that store because they had tonnes of LA Colors goodies for 99p [I KNOW?!], which I've been wanting to try out for yonks. After an armful of swatches I finally settled on these three products but I'm sure I'll be up there soon to grab some more!

Jumbo Eye Pencil
Relaxation - CP413
Price: £0.99

First up is the Jumbo Eye Pencil - I've been looking for NYX type eye pencils to use as bases so I thought I would give this one a go. They had loads of different colours to choose from but this gorgeous bronze colour instantly stood out to me. I found it was very soft, creamy and easy to apply - perfect under gold and brown eyeshadows. In fact I've even started wearing it alone blended out slightly during the day as a bronze smokey eye - love it!

Bottom Row Left to Right

LA Colors  Star Gaze 16 Color Eyeshadow Palette
Price: £2.99

Trust me, if you saw how many lush palettes there were in that store you would understand how difficult it was to choose, but I'm glad I went for this one :) How could I not buy it with so many lovely colours for only three quid?! I love the last five colours from the top row - they're stunning golden orangey shades which work so well together. The colours have good pigmentation but they are a bit chalky and powdery so you do tend to get a bit of fallout when using them. Overall though I think they're amazing for the price and the range of colours are so versatile.

LA Colors  Brilliant Shine Glitter Gloss
Rosy Pink
Price: £0.99

To be honest I'm not really that into lipgloss, but I thought why not and I'm so glad I did. The picture doesn't really do it justice but this lipgloss is packed full of glitter and is a beautiful peachy rose gold colour. And yes, it is super glittery on the lips as well! Surprisingly, it's not as sticky as other lip glosses although you do need to reapply every couple of hours. Being the glitter fan I am, I really like this for nights out and parties over my lippie - it's probably a bit too much for everyday wear though!

All for under a fiver! I couldn't believe it myself - if you ever find yourself at Westfield be sure to check it out and tell me what you think. Also got to check out Victoria's Secret which was so exciting, we all came out smelling amazing after spritzing each other with every single fragrance in there he he ;)

had a little play with my goodies :)

SEVENTEEN // Lipsticks And Shimmer Brick

This is my first post, so I thought I'd dive straight in by sharing a few products I bought from Boots a couple of weeks ago. Now as you probably know, Boots always has some kind of deal on and this time it happened to be three for two on all make up - one of my favourites! Sadly I didn't have very much money to spend, otherwise I probably would have gone wild. After much umming and aahing I decided to try out some products from Boots' brand Seventeen. I ended up choosing two lipsticks and a shimmer brick highlighter, here's what I thought of them.. :)

Left: Toffee Waffle, Right: Hot Chilli

Top: Toffee Waffle, Bottom: Hot Chilli

17 Lasting Fix Lipstick
Price: £4.29

Toffee Waffle has become my favourite go to lipstick at the moment. It's a lovely warm orangey brown that just matches with absolutely everything! I haven't worn Hot Chilli as much, but it's a gorgeous coral colour - perfect for summer. I think these two are great; they're super pigmented, last for hours and they're also matte lipsticks which are my fave type.

17 Instant Glow Pink Bronze Shimmer Brick
Price: £4.99

This also caught my eye so I decided to go for it - I've been searching for a good highlighter lately. The colours in it are beautiful, but I have to say I was a bit disappointed with its pigmentation. It's quite a subtle highlight, which is okay for everyday wear but not really what I was looking for.

All in all though pretty good for under a tenner, I wouldn't mind trying some of their products again soon :)
